Welcome to ASPIE

Founded in 2011 by an Asperger adult, ASPIE is a specialist social, support and therapy centre for autistic adults. We provide a safe haven where they can drop the mask they often wear in the outside world and find acceptance, friendship and understanding without fear of judgment.

Our purpose is to preserve and improve the quality of life of autistic adults, particularly those who are marginalised and disadvantaged because they are neurologically different

For many autistic adults, finding others who understand how they think, communicate and experience the world can be life-changing. At ASPIE, members find a sense of belonging, rebuilding confidence and self-worth to achieve the social inclusion, education and employment opportunities they long for.

We open twice a week, 52 weeks of the year, providing the consistency, routine and familiar faces that help reduce anxiety. Our activities include social groups, peer support, games, pool, drama, group art therapy, workshops and our ASPIE Avengers football club. We also offer autism-specific counselling and therapeutic support.

There is no pressure. Members can take part at their own pace or simply sit and be. Through our range of activities, support and therapy, we help autistic adults improve relationships, access or remain in education and employment, develop independence and enjoy a better quality of life.

We understand that taking the first step to visiting us  can feel daunting. When you get in touch, we will send you our leaflet. If you can let us know when you might visit, we will look out for you, welcome you in, have a chat, show you around and introduce you to some members if you are comfortable with that.
