Members of ASPIE include individuals with more than competent IT and web design skills and following a visit by Amy Poyner of the DRP group 7 ASPIE members visited their premises in Hartlebury on 5 April to gain an insight into the company and meet their workforce with a view to testing new websites on laptops, mobile phones and other devices. DRP is a prominent member of Hereford & Worcester Chamber of Commerce, a sponsor of the Worcestershire Apprenticeship Awards and ‘One of the best Companies to work for 2017’. We are now in the process of arranging a further visit and hope this will be the start of a continuing relationship.
Justin and I were invited to an employment seminar at Thursfields on Wednesday (26 April). This was of interest as the topic was ‘reasonable adjustments’ – very informative. We are now on their contact list for further seminars.
Following on from The Princes Trust Katy is working with a children’s nursery in Stourbridge and looking into an apprenticeship later in the year. Jeremy starts work experience at Malvern Instruments on 8 May. Owen will today be at the H&W Chamber event as ASPIE’s representative.
Worcestershire County Council reiterated at the Asperger sub-group meeting (24 April) the possibility of an open day for local employers to highlight the abilities of adults on autistic spectrum. Should this be or autism only or include other differences?
